Michael Matthews' Obituary
Michael Edward Matthews, “Fish”, was the beloved son of Robert Matthews and Sandra Matthews. He began his life journey on August 31, 1964 and Jesus called him home on May 30th, 2017 due to cancer.
Michael was preceeded in death by his grandparents, his father Robert Matthews, his cousin Brent Haizlip, and his Uncle Ralph Hill Jr.
Michael leaves behind his adoring mother, Sandra Matthews; his daughter, Kendra Olson (Darin Olson), Kendra’s mother Tricia Carr; his brothers, Vince Miller (Juli Miller) and Tony Matthews (Pati Matthews); his nephews, Sean, Stephen, and Skylar Miller; his aunts Darla Brown (Bill Brown), Rita Haizlip ,and Barbara Hill; cousins Wendy Bigham (Clint Bigham), Linda McDonnell (Sean McDonnell), and Denise Lower (Edward Lower).
Michael left behind beloved friends from Decatur, IL all the way to Madison, Indiana. He also leaves behind his soul mate, Sandy Trudeau and her daughter Madison Trudeau.
Michael, was an avid fisherman and loved playing golf. He was extremely fond of being in nature, enjoying time with friends, cooking, and playing with his beloved cat, Charlie.
Michael’s graveside service will be held at Thomas Anderson Cemetery in Palmer, IL on June 10th at 1pm. His celebration of life will be June 11th from noon till 6pm at the Adam’s Apple in Decatur, IL.
Michael is still in the hearts of all that loved him and is never truly gone; yet just gone fishing.
