Michael Linn Schawitsch's Obituary
Iowa – It is with sad and heavy hearts we share that Michael Linn Schawitsch (age 61) passed away March 30, 2025, at 3:37 pm with loved ones near. Michael was born December 4, 1963, at Decatur, Illinois, the son of Carol J. Rogers and Linn Dale Schawitsch.
Mike attended Mt. Zion High School and was a college certified welder but worked mostly in the family businesses of his father and brother. His hobbies included riding motorcycles, snowmobiles, go-carts (anything with speed) but his special love was music. He was an excellent drummer and played with several bands at Quincy, IL and Anamosa, IA.
Mike is dearly loved and will be missed more than words can express.
He leaves behind Carol Rogers (mother); Ashley Story (daughter); Lane, Arizona “Ona”, and Giovanni “G” Story (grandchildren); Sharon Hagen (special aunt); Lora Aden (sister-in-law) Judith Redpath (Aunt Judi/cousin): as well as very special cousins and friends.
Mike was preceded in death by L. Dale Schawitsch (father); Kevin D. Schawitsch (brother); Agnes Christman (special aunt); Jackie O’Donnell (uncle); Philip Hagen (uncle); Kenneth “Bud” Christman (uncle); and his grandparents.
Graveside services will be at 2 pm, Friday, May 9, 2025, at Mt. Gilead Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. There will be no visitation.
