Michael Edward Siburt's Obituary
Decatur-Michael Edward Siburt, 63, of Decatur, passed away at 10:15 a.m. Sunday, September 2, 2012 in Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
A memorial gathering will be held from 10-10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 8, 2012 at Crestview Worship Center, 4415 N. Water, Decatur. Memorial services to Celebrate Michael's life will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the worship center. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Camp Emmanuel, P.O. Box 557 Astoria, IL, 61501.
Michael was born September 8, 1948 in Decatur the son of William and Lou Ann (Wagner) Siburt. He graduated from Stephen Decatur High in 1966. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy two years in Patuxent River, Maryland and two years on the U.S.S. Hancock. He was previously employed as a Foreman with the Decatur Park District retiring with over thirty years of service. He was responsible for the gazebos at Scovill and Nelson Park. He was a member of Decatur Church of the Brethren and manager of Camp Emmanuel for the last two years. He was involved in many disaster relief projects serving in Indiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Florida, and Louisiana. He was a self taught man in many areas and a master craftsman. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed music. He married Ruth Traughber May 9, 1970 in Decatur.
He leaves behind his wife Ruth, son Matthew of Decatur, daughter Pattie (Mark) Dannewitz of Decatur, mother Lou Ann Siburt of Decatur, brothers Mark (Debbi) Siburt of Moweaqua and Stephen (Sue) Siburt of Decatur, sisters Billie Jean (Dick) Jestis of Radcliff, Kentucky, Patricia (Joe) Mars of Decatur, and Joyce (Mark) Sadorus of Decatur, and granddaughter Ashly Hunt.
He was preceded in death by his father and sister Donna Sears.
