Michael Wray Smith's Obituary
Decatur-Michael Wray Smith, 47, of Decatur, passed away Monday, December 29, 2014 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Mike was born August 10, 1967 in Decatur, the son of Michael P. and Rhonda (Pinkewich) Smith Ray. He graduated from Herscher High School Class of 1985. Mike was an avid guitar player. He was an iron worker by trade and was called a beam walker. He worked most of his life in Chicago, Kankakee, and surrounding towns for Local #444 of Joliet. He loved his dog Harley.
He leaves behind his daughter Sunnie Rae Smith of Ohio, mother Rhonda, brother Smitty Smith, step-mom Geraldine Smith of Kankakee, step-brothers Mitch and Eric Stevens of Kankakee, Joe and Josh Ray of Decatur, step-sister Kelly Stevens of Kankakee, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, especially his aunts Candy Bobbitt, Shawn Glazebrook, and Tammy Fanale and uncles Tim and Eric Pinkewich.
He will join his grandmother, Rusty Lowder, father Big Mike Smith, and step-dad Jerry Ray.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the entire 4th floor nurses for having patience with him.
As Val Kilmer said in Tombstone “He was a troubled soul, high strung.”

Memorial services to celebrate Mike’s life will be held at a later date.
