Mildred Jean Cave's Obituary
DECATUR — Mildred Jean Cave (nee Alexander), a longtime resident of Decatur, passed away on January 24, 2014 at the Holmstad in Batavia, Illinois.
Mildred was born in Decatur, in 1924. She married Edward Earl Cave Jr., and they remained in Decatur where they raised their son, Edward E. Cave III. They were graduates of Millikin and attended St. Paul’s Methodist Church. Millie taught sixth grade at Brush College Elementary School.
Millie is survived by her son, Edward (Linda); her granddaughter Laura Smith (Todd); and her two great-granddaughters Casey and Tori Kirsch. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her four siblings, and the aunt and uncle who became her parents.
A visitation will be held at Graceland-Fairlawn Funeral Home, 2091 N. Oakland Ave. in Decatur on Thursday, January 30 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be directed to The Holmstad Benevolent Fund (700 W. Fabyan Pkwy., Batavia, IL 60510), or to The American Cancer Society.
