Mildred "Mike" Hance's Obituary
Mildred “Mike” Hance, 97, of Decatur passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 in her home.
Mike was born on April 10, 1920 in Oreana, IL the daughter of Paul Rush and Daisy (Heckman) Rush- Davenport. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and attended First Church of the Nazarene of Decatur. She married Raymond Hance on October 28, 1945 in Decatur. He preceded her in death on February 14, 1992.
Surviving are her nephews, Raymond Davenport (Judy) of Pittsfield, IL; Jerry Davenport (Sandy) of Forsyth, IL; several great-nieces and great-nephews; 2 step-grandchildren, 4 step-great-grandchildren, 2 step-great-great-grandchildren; and best friend, Eloise “Elly” Ragan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, step-son, Lawrence Hance, brother, Raymond Davenport Sr., sister, Pauline Ballard, 1 niece, Shirley Ann Taylor, and 1 nephew, Clinton Davenport.
Mike enjoyed her daily morning devotions, was a diehard Cubs fan, and most of all she enjoyed her winters in Arizona with her friend Elly.
Funeral service to celebrate Mike’s life will be 3 PM Saturday, August 19, 2017 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 2-3 PM Saturday in the funeral home. Entombment will be in the Star of Hope Mausoleum in Graceland Cemetery. Memorial are suggested to the Shirner’s Hospital for Children in St. Louis, MO.
