Mildred Frances Thompson's Obituary
Decatur-Mildred Frances Thompson, 87, of Decatur, passed away Friday, June 13, 2014 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Mildred was born August 31, 1926 in Bloomington, Illinois the daughter of Ernest T. Fry and Iva S. Fry (Prince). She was previously employed as a school art teacher, then became a homemaker and mother. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and was involved in many church groups and activities, as well as AAUW, Creative Arts, Barn Colony Artists, and volunteer work. She enjoyed painting, crafts, pressed flowers, and making greeting cards. Mildred married William Hubert Thompson on August 6, 1950 in Bloomington, IL. He preceded her in death on April 1, 1999.
She leaves behind her daughter Terrie (Dr. Paul) Potter of Decatur, IL; son, Tim (Kit) Thompson of Johns Creek, GA; daughter Tamra Thompson of Bloomington, IL.; sister, Pauline Phillips of Bloomington, IL; grandchildren, Tripp Potter, Laura Potter, Sarah Potter Constantine, a host of nieces and nephews, and special friend, John Meldahl of Decatur, IL.
She was reunited in Heaven with her husband Bill, parents, brothers, Dale Fry, Ken Fry, Clayton Fry, sisters, Dorothy Lype, Donna Julian, Ester Scott, and Beulla Builta
Mildred will be dearly missed by many loved ones, and a community of friends. A special thanks to Decatur Memorial Hospital’s, doctors, and CVU staff.
Services to celebrate Mildred’s life will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5-7p.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be directed to Grace United Methodist Church.
