Mildred Maxine Zindel's Obituary
Mildred Maxine Zindel (born Jacobs) died on May 28 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Millie was born on March 15, 1930, in Decatur, Illinois, the daughter of Floyd and LuRenah (Ward) Jacobs. She married R. Wesley Zindel on November 13, 1954, and they lived happily together in Decatur for 60 years, until his death in 2015. Survivors include son Jacob Wesley (Wendy) and Grandson Aaron Zindel of Ann Arbor, Michigan, and brother Carroll Jacobs of Decatur. Millie was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Dorothy Mouche and Doris McArty all of Decatur.
Millie and Wes belonged to the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, Macon County Landowners, The Prime Timers club and the Central Illinois Vintage Car Club. In her younger years, she played on the Butterfield’s Girls Softball Team and in later life, took up golf, playing in multiple local golf leagues and winning tournaments in her 60s and 70s. Millie moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan in 2017 to be closer to her family.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. on Wednesday (06-18-2025) at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home followed by a memorial service at 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Millie requested no flowers or memorials. If you feel deeply about honoring Millie, her family suggests a donation to the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
