Murl L. Rawlings' Obituary
Murl L. Rawlings, 82, of Decatur passed away at 1:29 PM Thursday, January 19, 2012 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Murl was born on March 7, 1929 in Assumption the son of Marion and Gladys (Fathauer) Rawlings. He worked as a truck driver, a member of the Teamster, and retired from Spector Freight. He was a Veteran of the US Army. He married Evelyn Sickles on February 22, 1951 in Little Rock, AR.
Surviving are his wife, son, Kevin (Pam) Rawlings of Mt. Zion; daughter-in-law, Lillianna of Alabama; brother, Richard (Wanda) Rawlings of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Dustin, Douglas Sr., Heidi, Jeremy, James, Tiffany, Tanya, Randi, and Kennedy, and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Kenneth Rawlings and brother, Edward Rawlings.
The family would like to thank the staff of DMH 4100 West Wing ICU., especially Kristie and Arron, and Dr. Parker of SIU.
Honoring Murl's wishes cremation will take place at Graceland/Fairlawn Crematory. A Graveside service will be 2 pm Friday, January 27, 2012 in Point Pleasant Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to a gathering at the Long Creek Town Hall immediately following the services. Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer Association.
