Nancy Lynne Cox's Obituary
Decatur - Nancy Lynne Cox passed away December 25, 2020 in Decatur, Illinois with her family by her side.
Nancy was born May 1, 1945 in Los Angeles, California to Marshall and Marcella Annis. They later moved to Atascadero, California where Nancy grew up, graduating from Atascadero Senior High School in 1963.
She attended junior college and while working at an air force base, met Glen Cox. They fell in love and eloped to Las Vegas in 1964.
Nancy became an Army wife and followed her husband around the country to such exotic places as Fort Riley, Kansas, Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland, West Point, New York and Fort Ord, California. Glen was sent to Panama where Nancy and her young son joined him. While stationed at West Point, Nancy became one of the first civilians to parachute out of a plane. Upon landing, her parachute caught fire. A story she never forgot.
Nancy was strong, dependable and her family’s rock. She was a role model for her children and supported them in everything. And always stepped up to the plate whenever someone needed her, putting others before herself. She will be greatly missed.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother and many aunts and uncles.
She is survived by Glen, her husband of 56 years. Son, Douglas Cox and wife Sylvia. Daughter, Andrea Pursley and husband Mark. Daughter, Lucy Willenborg and husband Rick and daughter Rhonda Mank and husband Terry. Grandsons, Ken Cox and wife April, Cort Cox and Rose, and Cody Cox and Olivia. Nancy is also survived by her great grandchildren Vahri, Haydn and Diego.
Nancy was an avid animal lover, especially cats. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in her name to your local animal shelter or animal rescue.
