She was my French teacher while I attended Millikin. I wasn’t close to her but she was sweet and full of humor. Mrs. Oakes helped thousands of students over her career as a teacher and she will be missed. If we could all just give a fraction of the good she did for others and her community, the world would be a better place. Rest in peace!

Nancy was a great colleague. I always loved when we shared a lunch period. Laughter would spill out of the room because she always had a story to tell. She will be missed.

We watched the Oakes girls grow up and credit Dan and Nancy for doing a great job of raising them. When our girls stayed at your house when we were out of town, I always knew they were in good hands and probably getting waffles for breakfast! Nancy shared her many talents both as a teacher and at St Pats, where she will be greatly missed. I loved her sense of humor and her laugh. You are all in my prayers at this difficult time.
