Nathanael Moyer's Obituary
Nathanael Paul Moyer was born in Mattoon, IL, on July 25, 1977, to Scott & Lynda Moyer. He passed away on April 20, 2026, in Springfield, IL.
From a very young age, Nathan has made friends easily and seemed to be a natural leader. All through life, he truly enjoyed cheering people up. As a young man, he attended Mt. Carmel High School in Kentucky, and Faith Bible School in South Dakota. While still in his youth he left God’s Call though his heart was still tender for God and for others. He cherished his chances to minister, at one time being called ‘The Pastor for the Master’. His sermons proved anointed of God.
Nathan loved his mom and dad and often told them so. When his parents needed help renovating, he asked God for wisdom. His prayer was answered, enabling Nathan to learn the necessary skills in plumbing, electric, carpentry, and beyond. After that, if just about ANYTHING needed fixed, Nathan was the man for the job. He was truly blessed with The Gift of Helps.
Professionally, it seemed that Nathan always ended up working dangerous jobs, like running the repel outrigger for window washing on top of tall buildings, and pipefitter with ADM, to name a sample.
Everyone knew Nathan had a Big Heart! He often said, “My Dad is my Hero.” and dearly loved his own stepchildren: Dalton, Khrystien, Alyssa, Brandon, Derick, and Damien. Additionally, his dog Sampson had a very dear place in his heart.
When his beloved uncle Monty needed help, Nathan stepped up with his special love and care. Even in dark times, and through many challenges, he always held on to hope. His desire was to be restored again to usefulness for God. He enjoyed listening to church services, especially when he could no longer attend. Near the end, he wanted to make sure all was well with his soul. Alone with his mom, he asked her to come hold his hand for prayer, after which he left a clear testimony that he believed he was forgiven, saved, and ready ‘if something happened’.
In addition to his parents and stepchildren, Nathan is survived by two aunts, two uncles, and 12 cousins of which he was the youngest. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Pearl Moyer, Paul and Rosie Roller, as well as three aunts and four uncles.
Nathan will be laid to rest privately in Harristown Cemetery. A celebration and memorial of Nathan’s life will be held at a later date.
