Ned I. Cummings' Obituary
Ned I. Cummings, 91, of Decatur, passed away Monday, July 30, 2018.
Ned was born January 24, 1927, in Springfield Illinois, the son of Clarence and Lillias (Dial) Cummings.
He was married to Sandra M. (Swim) Cummings on November 8, 1953. They shared over sixty-four years together. They were both longtime members of the First Congregational United Church of Christ.
Ned was in the U.S. Army for 26 years retiring with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 3 and got to travel to many different places, which included Germany twice, two tours each in Korea and Vietnam. He was awarded the Bronze Star twice for his service in Vietnam.
One of the things he loved was retelling stories about the family and his life. He loved to travel and has been across the US several times from coast to coast. For several years was an active member of the Golden ‘K’ Kiwanis.
Ned leaves behind daughters Karen Sivils, Sharon (Matthew) Sekosky, and Carol Frantz, nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grand child.
Ned was preceded in death by his wife, parents, three brothers, two sisters and daughter, Barbara Cummings.
