Nickoles Britton "Nick" Pritchett's Obituary
Nickoles Britton “Nick” Pritchett, 48, of Decatur, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2026.
Nick was born on February 28, 1978, in Decatur, IL, the son of Chico and Belinda Cathy (Clem) Smith. He married the love of his life, Courtney Poling, on May 20, 2006, in Decatur, IL.
A member of Ironworkers Local 46 in Springfield, IL, Nick was never afraid of a little hard work. His most recent accomplishment was starting Rain Services, a tree removal business that also offered welding and fabricating services to the community.
Known as Chicken D to his friends, he definitely had a rough sense of humor and thick skin. But he always wanted to laugh with people instead of at them, and he had a heart of gold underneath it all. He never hesitated to offer a helping hand or a listening ear to those he cared about. When he wasn't hard at work, he loved to spend his time outdoors hunting morel mushrooms, going camping and sitting around the fire, or wasting a day fishing. More than anything else, he never missed an opportunity to spend time with his family, who will cherish every memory they made together.
Preceding him in death were his mother and his granddaughter, Ella.
Surviving are his dad, Chico Smith of Decatur; wife, Courtney Pritchett of Decatur; sons: Zachary Pritchett and Jorden Pritchett, both of Decatur; bonus son, Austin Jordan of Decatur; grandchildren, Nadine, Elodie, and Delyla; siblings, Eric Pritchett, Regina Pritchett, and Kimberly Svendsen all of Decatur; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 10 am to 12 pm on Friday, June 19, 2026, at the Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Harristown Township Cemetery.
Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences and memories may be shared at https://gracelandfairlawn.com.
