Nicole Marie Lynn Horvath's Obituary
Decatur-Nicole Marie Lynn Horvath, 13, of Decatur, passed away at 2:35 a.m. Thursday, September 01, 2011 at the Carol Jo Vecchie Women and Children’s Center at St. John's Hospital in Springfield with her family by her side.
Services to celebrate Nicole's life will be 4 p.m. Sunday September 4, 2011 at Central Christian Church, 650 W. William St. Decatur. Private family graveside services with 'Flight Home' Ceremony will be held at Graceland Cemetery. The family respectfully requests no flowers be sent and that memorial contributions may be made to Central Christian Church Youth Programs, Barclay Public Library Children's Programs, or Rock Springs Conservation District Summer Programs.
Nicole was born May 20, 1998 in Decatur, the daughter of Gary and Angela (Owens) Horvath. She was a student in the 8th grade at Warrensburg-Latham and member of the art club and several other clubs. She attended Central Christian Church where she was active in the youth group and served as a liturgist, acolyte, and Vacation Bible School volunteer. She also attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She began dancing at the age of three and danced for the Decatur YMCA and Park District. She began swimming at the age of three and was in the most advanced class at the Decatur YMCA. She was in the Best of Summer Stock for the last four years, a camper at Rock Springs Earth Adventure Program from K-6th grade and then a volunteer for 7-8th grade. Nicole participated and volunteered in Barclay Public Library Summer Reading Program for many years. Nicole was a pianist and voracious reader. She enjoyed selling cookies with the Girl Scouts and enjoyed and lived life to the fullest.
She leaves behind her parents, Gary and Angela Horvath of Decatur, brother, Levi of Decatur, grandpa, James Owens of Paxton, uncles, Jim Horvath and wife Debbie of Clinton and Chips Maquet of Zephyr Hills, Florida, aunt, Becky Mullen and husband Doug of Washington, Illinois, cousins, Chris Mullen and wife Sherry, James Mullen and wife Michelle, Andrew Mullen, Brian Mullen, Kara Maughan and husband Dan, Derrick Horvath, and Drew Horvath and wife Rachel, and many second cousins and good friends.
She was greeted in Heaven by her grandparents, James and Elizabeth Horvath and Esther Owens, aunt, Maggie Maquet, and cousin, Tim Mullen.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses and staff at the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at the Carol Jo Vecchie Women and Children’s Center at St. John's Hospital for all of their loving care and to all of Nicole's family and friends for their prayers and support.
