Nina M Gersmehl's Obituary
Nina Mae Gersmehl, 95, passed away of natural causes on May 4, 2013.
She was born the middle child of nine to Ansel V. Page and Lelly Belle Thompson Page on July 20, 1917 in Tompkinsville, Kentucky.
She moved with her family to Deland, Illinois in 1924 and later moved to Decatur, IL, where she met and married Lowell H. Taylor in 1937. They had three daughters: Sonya Crowe, Columbia, MO; Janet King (Chuck), Winnsboro, SC; Judith Gash (Jerry), Hammond, IL. Lowell passed away in 1953.
She married Gerald (Jerry) Gersmehl in 1967 in Decatur, IL.
Nina worked in several plants, including Borg Warner Co., and during WWII in a munitions plant as an inspector of A-Bomb parts. She retired as a real estate saleswoman.
She enjoyed quilting, sewing, cooking, fishing, and bowling during her lifetime, and traveled extensively with Jerry from Mexico to Canada and around the world from Europe to Australia. They also lived for twenty winters in Harlingen, Texas.
Nina was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Decatur, for over fifty years.
Surviving are her husband, three daughters, and grandchildren: Michelle Hester, Suzanne DeMarco, Mark Crowe, Bret, Bart (Denise) and Bryc Spainhour, Beth Ross (JC), Kevin Gash (Nursel) and Simone DeVore, fourteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Four brothers and four sisters preceded her in death, as well as her son-in-law, Breck Crowe.
Nina was a loving and hardworking wife, mother and grandmother, and was truly loved by her family and friends. She was a wonderful role model. We will miss her wisdom, warm smile, and laughter.

Services will be 11 A.M. Wednesday, May 8, 2013 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home with visitation 1 hour before the service 2091 N. Oakland Ave. Decatur. Burial will take place in Graceland Cemetery and conclude with “Flight Home Ceremony”. The family of Nina Gersmehl is being served by Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
