Nina Marjorie Girard Baer's Obituary
Decatur-Nina Marjorie Girard Baer, 97, of Decatur, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at East View Terrace in Sullivan.
Nina was born May 19, 1919 in Denver, Colorado, the daughter of Francis and Lillian (Jacobs) Brownlee. She was previously employed as the office manager for Dr. Herbert Fritz. Nina was a member of the Barn Colony, Defenders of Wild Life, and American Indians. She enjoyed painting especially custom magnets, knitting, crocheting, and photography. Nina married Arthur P. Girard Jr. and he preceded her in death. She then married Russell E. Baer and he preceded her in death.
Nina leaves behind her son Alan (Jodi) Girard of Decatur, daughter Nancy Fair of Decatur, grandchildren Benjamin (Sabrina) Girard of Texas, Alexander Girard of Mt. Zion, Alyson (Stephen) Webb of Mt. Zion, Lisa (Séan) Roach of Florida, Chris (Abigail) Fair of Oregon, Nicolas Girard of Decatur, Nicole Girard of Decatur, and Zacary Girard of Decatur, great-grandchildren Blake (Jessica) Roach of Florida, Maxwell Roach of Colorado, Samuel Girard of Mt. Zion, Madelyn Webb of Mt. Zion, Masen Webb of Mt. Zion, Katherine Hansen of Texas, and Cole Hansen of Texas, and great-great-grandchildren Laila Roach of Florida, Savannah Roach of Florida, and Declan Roach of Florida.
Nina was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, and brother Floyd Brownlee.
Services to celebrate Nina’s life will be 11:00 AM Monday, January 23, 2016 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10-11 AM prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials are suggest to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Salvation Army.
