Decatur-Norman Babb, 76 of Decatur, passed away 3:45 pm Thursday, February 11, 2010 at Heartland Health Care Center.
Services to celebrate Norman's life will be 11:00 am Tuesday February 16, 2010 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Park officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services from 10 - 11:00 am Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment with Military Rites by the Macon County Honor Guard concluding with the "Flight Home" ceremony will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to your charity of choice. Norman was born March 14, 1933 in Decatur, IL the son of Amos and Leslye (Hooper) Babb. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. Norman and Wanda Cox were married on December 28, 1956 in Decatur. He retired in 1997 from Norfolk & Southern Railroad where he was employed as a machinist. Norman was an avid NASCAR racing fan and Atlanta Braves fan, and he enjoyed the outdoors.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories his wife Wanda, his daughters Rose (Husband - Charlie) Mason of Lafayette, IN and Debra Babb of Decatur, his brother Robert (wife - Mary Jane) Babb of Decatur, his sister -in-law Marilyn Babb and his brother-in-law Phil Teare of Danville and his aunt Jessie C. Heinz of Mt. Zion, IL, and many nieces and nephews.
Norman will be reunited in Heaven with his parents, maternal and paternal grandparents, his brothers Richard and Delmar and his sister Darlene
