Norman E. McCormick's Obituary
Chestnut-Norman E. “Cy” McCormick, 78, of Chestnut, passed away at 10:40 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at Abraham Lincoln Hospital in Lincoln.
Services to celebrate Cy’s life will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 27, 2009 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, April 26, 2009 at the funeral home. Interment with military honors and “Flight Home” Ceremony will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Christian Services. Cy was born June 25, 1930 in Ramsey, Illinois the son of Theodore and Gladys (Merriman) McCormick. He proudly served his country in the USMC during the Korean War. He was retired from Caterpillar Inc. after 30 years of service on February 1, 1986. He was a member of Northwest Christian Church and also attended the Clinton Assembly of God. He was a member of the American Legion Post #105 and Korean Veterans Association. He married Arlene Mendenall on April 2, 1954. She preceded him in death on April 27, 1986. He married Lois Carlin on October 11, 1990.
He leaves behind his wife Lois, sons; Norman Jr. and wife Theresa of Decatur, Sean and wife Tammy of Decatur, Darren and wife Lori of Belleville, Dirk and wife Tammy of Riverton, step-children; Rhonda Shirley of Lincoln and David Shirley of Emden, Lisa Whitson and husband Matt of Mt. Pulaski, Mark Carlin and wife Sherrie of Chestnut, Nancy Buckles and husband Frank of Elkhart, sister; Marilyn Floyd of St. Charles, MO, sister-in-laws; Nancy and Jessie McCormick and Donna Mendenall all of Decatur and Norma Anderson and husband Bill of Lincoln, and thirty-two grandchildren and great-grandchildren, which are all special in their own way.
He was reunited in heaven with his parents, wife Arlene, and brothers; Jack and Darrell “Bud” McCormick.
