Preston O. Bunch's Obituary
Decatur – Preston O. Bunch, 85, of Decatur, passed away at 5:54 pm Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Services to celebrate Preston’s life will be held at 12:00 noon Friday, April 2, 2010 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church with Pastor Bill Abbott officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm Thursday, April 1, 2010 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Interment with the “Flight Home” Ceremony will be at Macon County Memorial Park Cemetery. Preston was born July 3, 1924 in Kansas, Illinois, the son of George and Stella (Lanham) Bunch. He married Norma Workman on April 16, 1949 in Decatur.
Preston had 33 years of service at the US Postal Service in Decatur. He retired in February 1980. He was a short man which led to one of his nicknames “shorty the mail man”. In every other area of his life, he was a true giant. He was a true leader of his entire family. He taught us all how to laugh, love, care and share. Preston was in the Army, serving in WWII.
He leaves behind his wife Norma Jean Bunch, his three daughters: Barb ((Gordon) Baker, Sharon (Buddy) Robey, and Janet (Randy) Foster, four grandchildren: Andy (Lisa) Baker, Dan (Sandra) Robey, Jeremy Foster, and Amber Ott, four great grandchildren: Zach, Kayla, and Gavin Robey and Abbey Baker.
He was reunited in heaven with his parents: George and Stella Bunch, brothers: Glenn, Bryon, Sam, George Jr., and Floyd Bunch., one sister: June Ray.
