Olen Glenn "Ollie" Runion's Obituary
Olen Glenn 'Ollie' Runion, 77, of Decatur, went to be with the angels at 5:31 am, Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Ollie was born in Decatur on March 16, 1935 the son of Charles and Bessie (Austin) Runion. He built engines (racing) from the early 1970's to present and has always been a car/motor enthusiast. 'Ollie was the best engine builder in Decatur', per Butch Garner, Ollie's best friend. He was a race car driver from about 1955 to early 1970's winning many races at the local dirt tracks. Racing was his life. He was a member of Forsyth Baptist Church and an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan.
Ollie married Rebecca, who he called his baby doll, on Valentine's Day 1995. He was a kind hearted, easy going man who was respected and loved by everyone.
Surviving is his wife, Rebecca; son, Allen (Jan) Runion of Decatur; daughter, Debbie (Tim) Milhauser of Decatur; step-sons, William M. (Kerry) Dunn of Niceville, FL, and Rick Dunn of Decatur; step-daughter, Krystal (Chris) Lester of Arthur; grandchildren: Hilary, Colin, Ryan, Mimi (Jim),Isabella, Michael, Daniel, Tanner, Jakob, Carter, and Ricky. And brand new great grandson, Gus; sisters: Letha Hill and Alene Durbin.
Olen was preceded in death by his parents, beloved first wife, Ruby, brothers: Gerald, Mervin, Dale and Ivan; sisters, Dean Bracken and Elnora Stiles.
Services to celebrate his life will be 11 am, Thursday, January 17, 2013 in Forsyth Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm, Wednesday, January 16, 2013 in the Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Forsyth Baptist Church.
