Opal Vivian Lowe's Obituary
Decatur- Opal Vivian Miller Lowe, 94, of Decatur, IL died at 5:30 pm on Saturday, September 1, 2012 in Bethalto Care Center in Bethalto, IL. The staff provided loving care during her stay there.
Visitation will be 1-2 PM Friday September 7, 2012 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home followed by a graveside service celebrating Opal’s life at 2 PM in Fairlawn Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Homeward Bound Animal Shelter.
Mrs. Lowe was born in Decatur, IL on February 18, 1918 the daughter of Herman and Erma (Anderson) Miller. She married Harold Sutton in 1936. They had five children. Harold died in 1958. She then married Caleb (Cate) Lowe in 1972. He died in 1978.
Mrs. Lowe was a homemaker who enjoyed music. She will be greatly missed by all her friends and family.
Surviving are three children: daughters, Nelda Talbott of Mesa, AZ; Charlotte Larkin of East Alton, IL; son, Roger Sutton of Roanoke, VA; She has 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren, one great-great-great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, a son who died at birth, a son, Ronald Victor Sutton who died at age 57, and two brothers, Lorne and Delmer, a twin sister Ruby Howell, and a nephew, Raymond Howell.
