Decatur-Oscar M. 'Sonny' Hadley, 78 of Decatur passed away 12:00 am Monday, March 28, 2011 at Imboden Creek Living Center.
Funeral Liturgy to celebrate Oscar's life will be 2:00 pm on Friday, April 1, 2011 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home with Father Jeff Grant officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 2:00 pm Friday at the funeral home. Committal services with military rites by the Macon County Honor Guard concluding with the 'Flight Home' ceremony will be in Graceland Cemetery. Oscar was born on December 12, 1932 in Okolona, MS, the son of Ollie and Maxine (Hanks) Hadley. Oscar proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War and he received the Purple Heart. He was employed as a construction laborer with Local # 159, retiring in 1993. He married Helena Mae Ewald and they later divorced. Oscar then married Laura Graybeal and she preceded him in death. Oscar was a past Moose member, an avid St. Louis Cardinal Baseball fan, and he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by two daughters Denise (Greg) Mason of Decatur, Jennifer (Mark) Muth of Henderson Nevada; his three sons John (Rise) Hadley, Oscar (Julie Penn) Hadley, and Mark (Katie Lewis) Hadley all of Decatur; Helena Mae Hadley of Decatur; his brother Perry (Ann) Hadley of Navasota, TX; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Oscar was preceded in death by his parents, Laura Graybeal, and his sister Maryllis (Peggy) Morey, his nephew Craig Morey.
