Otis L. "Bud" Hurley's Obituary
Hammond-Otis L. “Bud” Hurley, 87, of Hammond, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2015 in the Arthur Home.
Bud was born April 18, 1928 in Bement, Illinois, the son of Otis V. and Edna Mae (Heitz) Hurley. He proudly served his country in U.S. Army 143rd Tank Battalion in the Korean War. He was previously employed as a heavy equipment operator with Operating Engineers Local 965. Bud was a member of the Solid Rock Church in Sullivan. He was an avid woodworker that specialized in clocks. He never met a stranger and loved to tease and cut up. He married Evelyn Myers August 26, 1950. They shared over sixty-four years together.
Bud leaves behind his wife Evelyn, daughter Sandra Kay Mausey and husband Terry, grandsons Dustin Eugene Mausey and wife Melissa and Travis Lee Mausey, great-grandchildren Lillianna Kay Mausey and Liam Rey Mausey, and several loving nieces and nephews.
Bud was reunited in Heaven with his parents and sisters Jennie Mae Madden and Mary Alice Musser.
Bud enjoyed life and will be deeply missed.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the Veterans Affairs and the nurses and staff at St. Mary’s Hospital, St. John’s Hospital, and the Arthur Home for all of their loving care and support.
Services to celebrate Bud’s life will be 2 p.m. Monday, June 8, 2015 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, June 7, 2015 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Friends Creek Cemetery in Argenta. Memorials are suggested to the Solid Rock Church.
