Patricia Jo Moore's Obituary
Patricia Jo (Vest) Moore passed peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Friday, June 21, 2024.
Patti was born on December 3, 1959, in Decatur, Illinois, the daughter of Edwin Richard and Margie (Warnick) Vest. She grew up in Decatur attending MacArthur High School. She then attended the University of Illinois. She served the people of Decatur while working as a Macon County Health Professional for 20 years. She met the love of her life, Richard Wallace “Wally” Moore, while he was also working at the Decatur Mental Health Center. The two were married on May 18, 1985, in Decatur, IL. Together they shared 39 loving years together and 2 beautiful daughters. She retired early to cherish her time at home with her husband and daughters.
Patti’s greatest love and joy was her family. Spending any time with her family was most important to her, but she especially loved sharing a meal together at home around the table. Her other loves included her dogs (especially her grand dogs Sully and Ghost), playing softball and tennis, water skiing, going out on the boat, fishing, watching sports (Cardinal’s baseball, Green Bay Packers, Illinois basketball, NASCAR), planting flowers, going to Walt Disney World, and celebrating holidays together (especially all things Halloween) and hosting Thanksgiving.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Mark Vest.
She is survived by her husband Wally Moore; daughters: Amanda (Quinlan) Syfert and Hailey (Ty) Gehrken; grandchildren: Lily Jo Syfert and Baby Gehrken (on the way); sister Georgiana (Ted) Paine all of Decatur, IL.
A private gathering will be held to celebrate Patti’s life with her close family.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation or Cancer Care Specialists of IL.
Condolences and memories may be shared with the family in care of Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Homes at www.gracelandfairlawn.com.
