I really enjoyed working with Parnell at Harris. She always had an engaging lesson with the students. But, what I enjoyed most was teasing her about all sorts of things. It was teasing, not tormenting because she always took it with a smile and was quick to return the favor when the opportunity presented itself. When hearing that it upset her if the color of the chairs did not match at her library tables, Bob Richards and I mix-matched the chairs. When she realized what we had done, she smiled and went to work sorting the chairs. When I reached my 50th birthday, the school celebrated with many embarrassing activities. At some point I inquired whether her 50th was coming up soon. She replied that she was much younger in such a convincing voice that I assumed she had another 5 or 6 years to go, but it was only 11 months. Parnell will be missed by many. Blessings to Allen, Carrie, and especially to Matthew.
