Paul Leon Doyle's Obituary
Paul Leon Doyle, 98, passed away October 19, 2024, at the Loft Rehabilitation of Decatur.
Paul was born on March 16, 1926, the son of Goldie and Claude Doyle. He married Donna Marie (Fleming) on February 2, 1947. She passed away February 26th, 1986. He met a companion Virginia Vorndam, who passed away in 2004.
Paul loved to camp, fish, travel and visit with family and friends. He was a life member of the noon Sertoma Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and American Legion. He retired in 1986 from Illinois Power after 38 years.
Paul spent 2 1/2 years in the Navy during WW2 as a coxswain serving on the USS Rockingham APA 229. During the Korean War he spent one year in the Army at Camp McCoy in Wisconsin with the 847th Field Artillery Unit. He took an Honor Flight in 2011 to visit the WW2 Memorial.
He is survived by his son in law Matt Karch of Decatur, granddaughter Karla Campbell (Paul) of Oreana, great-grandson Lane Campbell (Alissa) and great-great grandson Carter of Oreana, great-granddaughter Haley Campbell (Makhi) of Decatur.
Paul was preceded in death by his daughter Paula Doyle.
Graveside services with military rites will be held at 11am Monday, December 16, at Graceland Cemetery.
