Paul G. Mattox's Obituary
Paul G. Mattox, 90, of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2018, in his home surrounded by his family.
Paul was born January 3, 1928, in Mattoon, IL to William and Elsie (Creamer) Mattox. He proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was a member of Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church. He married Joy Browning on February 6, 2014, in Decatur, IL. Paul was a conductor for the railroad for many years. He loved to sing Karoke, dance and spend time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Joy; three children, Ronald Mattox of Bloomington, IN, Tyler Mattox of Lincoln, IL and Kimette (John) Szczerba of Metamora, IL; five grandchildren, Dillon Spanhook, Brandy Szczerba, Michael Szczerba, Carrie Mattox and Chasidy Mattox; cousin, Max (Kathy) Mattox of Fairhope, AL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Mary Mattox; his brother, Joe Mattox and his granddaughter, Christina Mattox.
Memorial services to celebrate the life of Paul Mattox will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 15, 2018, at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday before the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Alzheimer’s Association 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
