Paula JoAnn Shamhart's Obituary
Paula JoAnn Shamhart, 71, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away July 12, 2024, in her home.
Paula was born in Decatur on December 27, 1952, the daughter of Jack and Wilma (Ramsey) Souders, Sr. She worked in the Crown Cork and Seal manufacturing plant. In her spare time, she loved cooking, making potholders, and painting. She had quite an eye for interior design and found remodeling to be a creative outlet. She enjoyed camping and going to festivals. She had many wonderful friends whom she dearly loved and appreciated.
Paula was very grateful to the love of her life, Jim Littrell, and his family for their loving care and concern. She frequently mentioned the excellent care she received from the Cancer Care Center, Decatur Memorial Hospital, and DMH Hospice nurses Tracy, Keely, and Brad.
Paula is survived by her boyfriend Jim Littrell; daughters Tara (Jake) Hubbard of Oreana, IL and Tiffany (John) Halicki of Moweaqua, IL; sisters Rose Whitney of Decatur, Shirley (Robert) Rhoades of Oklahoma, and Janet (Stanley) Pettyjohn of Niantic, IL; grandchildren Peyton, Anna, Aaron, Alyvia, and Brenden; special friends Becky Hunt, Fred Fyke, Karen Halicki, Nancy Waterman, and Penny McQueen; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ronald Shamhart, and brothers Paul Souders, Garry Souders, and Jack Souders.
Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home is providing cremation services for Paula. A funeral service will be held at 6pm on Monday, July 29, at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home, with visitation beginning at 4:30pm. Burial in Macon County Memorial Park will take place at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Cancer Care Center of Decatur or DMH Hospice.
