Pauline Conyer's Obituary
Pauline Conyer,86, of Decatur Il passed away on June 19,2024 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. She was born January 18,1938 on Monticello KY to Obie and Mary Abbott.
Pauline graduated from Woodruff High School in Peoria, IL. Later in life, she returned to school and completed an associate’s degree from Richland Community College and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Eastern Illinois University. She was a member of Riverside Baptist Church in Decatur, IL. She was also a long-time volunteer with the Macon County Conservation District. She loved working with her hands, including gardening, quilting, and designing floral arrangements.
Pauline loved her family deeply. She helped start the Abbott-Vaughn family reunion in Turkey Run, IN. and also frequently attended the Abbott reunion in her birthplace of Monticello, KY. She did extensive research into her family ancestry, which culminated in her writing a manuscript of her family’s life in the hills of Kentucky called Through My Eyes in 1997.
Pauline is survived by her son, Mark (Daniehl) Conyer; sisters, Lois Nichols and Bettye (Bill) Keeton; grandchildren, Bryce Conyer, Logan Conyer, Gavin Conyer, Brittany (James) Lord, Corey (Aimee) Conyer, Liberty Conyer and Caitlin (Brady) Conyer-Coates; several great-grandchildren as well as numerous extended family and friends.
Pauline was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Billy Conyer; brother, Thomas Abbott; sister, Geneva McMullen and son, David Conyer.
A visitation will be held for Pauline on July 1, 2024, at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral from 11am to 1pm with a funeral service to follow at 1pm. Burial rites will be held at Graceland Cemetery after the funeral services.
