Pauline Mable Wingfield's Obituary
Decatur-Pauline Mable Wingfield, 89, of Decatur, IL, passed away on May 20, 2013 at Keystone Meadows in Decatur.
She was born in Decatur and graduated from the old Decatur High School where she met her future husband, Harold Wingfield. They were married for 62 years when he passed away seven years ago. Pauline and Harold enjoyed an eventful life, living in Fort Lauderdale, FL, Montpelier, OH, Pensacola, FL, Owosso, MI, Moberly, MO, Roanoke, VA, Sandusky, OH, Southfield, MI, Charlotte, NC, Decatur and later years in Forsyth.
Pauline had a real love of life and was a pleasure to be around. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church where she liked to participate in their senior activities. She always enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and was a member of the All States Club. She played tennis for most of her life, went boating with her husband, and loved to visit towns along the ocean and Great Lakes with her family.
Pauline is survived by her two children; Gloria Guy of Decatur and Butch (Jan) Wingfield of Novi, MI, five grandchildren; Jeff (Laura) Guy of South Bend, IN, Sean (Melissa) Guy of Chatham, Chris Guy of Maryville, and Lauren and Matt Wingfield of Novi, MI as well as three great-grandchildren: Claire and Richard Guy of South Bend, IN and Abigail Guy of Chatham.
She also leaves her sisters Mary Ann (Keith) Andrews of Phoenix, AZ, Nancy (Don) Simroth of Charlottesville, VA, Pat Bell of Arvada, CO and Jane Gaffron and Mildred Dreasher of Decatur plus many nieces and nephews throughout the country. Pauline is preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Mable Pier of Decatur, two brothers and three sisters.
The family would like to thank the staff at Keystone Meadows, the Hospice Nurses and a very special thanks to Rita Morgan, her caretaker, who was a blessing to Pauline and to the entire family.
Funeral Liturgy to celebrate Pauline's life will be 2 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2013 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the services. Burial with 'Flight Home Ceremony' will be in Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Homeward Bound Pet Shelter, PO Box 3831, Decatur, IL 62524.
