Pearlie Mae Taliaferro's Obituary
Pearlie Mae Taliaferro had a vibrant outgoing personality and never met a stranger. She was a compassionate child of God and a true believer. Pearlie was a beautiful, young spirited, intrepid woman who has left this world too soon. She sadly departed this life on January 17, 2023. Pearlie Mae was 74 years old.
Pearlie Mae Taliaferro was born one of eighteen children to Verda Lena Smith and Horris Comage in Brownsville, Tennessee on October 13, 1948. She attended Carver High School in Brownsville, Tennessee. In 1966 Pearlie migrated with her family to Decatur, Illinois where she later met and married her husband Herman Taliaferro. There she became a fulltime homemaker caring for her four children. In her spare time, Pearlie enjoyed listening to all genres of music especially down home blues. She enjoyed baking pies and cakes. Her German chocolate cake was a favorite to many.
Pearlie was preceded in death by her parents Verda Lena (Smith) and Horris Comage; her husband, Herman Taliaferro; brothers, Horace Comage Jr., Moses Comage, Albert Comage, Leslie Comage, Otis Comage, and sisters: Laverne Wilder, and Easter Deberry. She leaves four children to cherish her memories: Melody Taliaferro, McKitha Taliaferro, Herman Taliaferro and Keith Taliaferro (Sanquanita); sisters: Earnestine Comage, Ruby Howard, Josephine Warren; brothers: Robert Comage, James Comage, Roosevelt Comage and Jimmy Comage. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews to mourn her loss but also to celebrate her life.
Memorial service will be 11:00 AM February 11, 2023, at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home. Memorial: The family of Pearlie Mae Taliaferro.
