Peggy D. Green's Obituary
Peggy D. Green, 95, of Decatur, IL, passed away at 11:15 P.M. on Friday (10-04-2024) at Willow Breeze Hospice House in Mattoon, IL.
Peggy was born on April 3, 1924, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of William Herschel Helm and Edna Ella (Abel) Helm. She married James Hallam Green in Decatur, IL. He passed away on November 18, 2004.
Peggy was a member of the Ladies Home League in the Salvation Army. She was also a Matron of the Juvenile Detention in Macon County. Peggy also was on a bowling team for several years, loved dogs, was a very good card player, loved knitting, was an election judge for many years and was an avid Cub’s fan.
She is survived by her children: James Randle Green of Decatur, IL, and Joyce Renee Green and husband Dion Buzzard of Beecher City, IL; grandchildren: Ben Buzzard, Silas Buzzard, Steven Green, and Kim Green; great-grandchildren: Rosemary, James, Trentyn, Jackson, and Lily.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers: Bud, Bill, Sonny, three sisters: Emma, Pat, Maxine.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. on Thursday (10-10-2024). The funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. Thursday (10-10-2024) at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home. The burial will be at Graceland Cemetery.
