Peggy Shulke's Obituary
Peggy (Peg) Anne Printy Seitz Shulke, 91, of Decatur, IL, went to be with our Lord on August 8, 2023.
Peggy was born in Decatur, IL on August 6, 1932, the 6th daughter of Eston M. And Azalia Beal Printy. She was a 1950 graduate of Decatur High School. Upon graduating, she was the secretary of First Lutheran Church in Decatur, IL. She married Edward W. Seitz on October 18, 1952. When he graduated from Millikin University in 1957, they moved to Danville, IL where their children were born. From there, they moved to Waukegan, IL, San Jose, CA, Wilmington, NC, Peru, IL and back to Decatur, IL where Edward died on Veteran’s Day November 11, 1974.
She later married David Shulke. She was the Town Clerk of Long Creek, worked for NECA-IBEW and Fixmasters’ Repair Shop. She was a member of the Decatur Power Squadron Auxiliary and a member of the Lincolnland Holiday Ramblers. Peggy was a member of Woodland Chapel. She volunteered at the Good Samaritan Inn with her Bethlehem Church members. Peg and Dave enjoyed boating, traveling in their motorhome and wintering in the Rio Grande Valley, Alamo, TX where they enjoyed their “Winter Texan” friends for over 31 years.
Surviving are her husband, David, whom she was married to for 47 years; son, David W. Seitz of Ft. Myers, FL; daughter, Beth A. McCay; granddaughters, Jennifer McCay and Rebecca (Avery) Hill of Goose Creek, SC; stepdaughters, Sandra (Don) Amirault of Winnebago, IL, Marcia (Bob) Gooden of Rockford, IL and Karen Trueblood of Springfield, IL; 1 great granddaughter; 4 step grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren.
Mrs. Shulke leaves her stepsister, Wanda Carr, and beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mrs. Shulke was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Edward W. Seitz; stepfather, Lawrence H. Carr; sisters, Helen L. Roberts, Mary J. Mathis Farris; Dorothy L. Kaufman, Betty J. Nowlin and Frances Evans; one stepbrother and four stepsisters.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Leslie Strol and the whole Primrose Comunity. As well as Tradtions Health Hospise Care for their loving and compasionate care for our momma.
Mrs. Shulke loved God, her church and her many friends.
A visitation for Peggy will be held on Monday, August 14, 2023, at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home from 10-11am. A funeral service will be held following the visitation with burial at Graceland Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Bethlehem Presbyterian Church where Peggy was a member.
