Phillip Lee Dannewitz's Obituary
Phillip Lee Dannewitz, 84, passed away Monday, August 25, 2025, with his wife Amy and his son Phillip Todd by his side.
Phillip was born November 4, 1940 in Decatur, IL, to Fredrick William and Eloise Louise (Heflin) Dannewitz. He married the love of his life, Amy Tipton on October 7, 1967, and they welcomed their only son, Phillip Todd, in 1980. He was a veteran of the US Air Force, and served active duty in the Vietnam War. He retired from Intermet Wagner Castings in 2003, and had served as a Deacon at House of Faith Church of God in Christ in Decatur.
Surviving are his wife, Amy, now of White Lake, MI; son, Phillip Todd Dannewitz, and cherished daughter-in-law Bethany Dannewitz, also of White Lake, MI; sister, Erma Lewis of Decatur; three granddaughters, Madeline, Clara, and Kate Dannewitz, all of White Lake, MI; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Walter Leon Dannewitz.
Visitation for Phillip Dannewitz will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 p.m. the following day, Friday, September 5, 2025, with Elder Embra Patterson III officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard at the following graveside.
