Phyllis Marie Funkhouser's Obituary
Phyllis Marie Funkhouser, 92, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away June 8, 2024, at Mt. Zion Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Phyllis was born in Decatur on August 27, 1931, the daughter of Fred and Grace (Dowling) Drum. She married Leon Funkhouser on August 25, 1950, in Decatur. Together they raised five children. He preceded her in death in 2013. Phyllis worked as a secretary for Stifel Nicolaus for 20 years. She was a faithful and active member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Decatur. She gave tirelessly of her time at many church functions, including making noodles for fundraisers and volunteering at the Farm Progress Show. In her free time, she enjoyed shopping, going out to lunch, and being with her family. She was always impeccably dressed, with her nails done, hair styled, and makeup applied perfectly.
Phyllis is survived by her children: Lyn Larry, Sue (Chuck) Durbin, Curt Funkhouser, Kay (Jeff) Merritt, and Doug Funkhouser; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Cremation services are being provided for Phyllis by Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 10am on Tuesday, July 2, at Wesley United Methodist Church in Decatur. Burial in Cerro Gordo Cemetery will follow the service. Memorials may be directed to Wesley United Methodist Church. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.gracelandfairlawn.com.
