Phyllis Gruen's Obituary
Phyllis E. Gruen, 76, of Decatur passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2020 at her home.
Phyllis was born March 6, 1943 in Menominee, Michigan to Reuben and Verna Lillian (Peterson) Newlin. She married Floyd W. Gruen in 1971, he survives, She is also survived by her son Jeremy W Gruen of Decatur; three sisters: Grace M. Newlin of Wilmette, IL Marilyn Mae (Barton) Wolf of Neenah, WI Marjorie A. (Moises) Sanabria of Elgin, IL; three brothers: Vernon R. (Mary C.) of Leesburg, FL, Rodney A. (Ellen) Newlin of Rosendale, WI, Douglas Wayne Newlin of Wauzeka, WI.
Phyllis was a member of Salem Baptist Church, she loved the Lord and was active in the church.
Phyllis was a 1961 graduate of Menominee High School, she then moved to Evanston, IL for a year of infant training at the Cradle Adoption Agency, then trained to became a Licensed Practical Nurse in Skokie, IL.
Phyllis retired from St. Mary’s Hospital. Her passion for gardening led her to Marie-Mann's for fun and work in the green house and in the field.
A memorial service will be held in the future at Salem Baptist Church. Memorial Contributions in her name are suggested to the Salem Baptist Church Sunday School or the Church School Bus Ministry.
