Phyllis Pianka's Obituary
Decatur-Phyllis Taylor Pianka, 81 passed away suddenly and peacefully at her home in Sparks, Nevada, on September 20, 2010.
Graveside services to celebrate Phyllis' life will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, October 20, 2010 in Graceland Cemetery with Rev. Don Jones officiating. The 'Flight Home' ceremony will conclude services. Phyllis was born November 12, 1928 in Rice Lake, Wisconsin the daughter of Clarence and Fern (Ames) Taylor. She married Edwin Pianka, who proceeded in death in 1992. Phyllis authored numerous novels, writing books, booklets and articles. She taught writing classes and professionally critiqued manuscripts up until the time of her death.
She is survived by her son Jerry Pianka, her sister Esther Craig of Effingham, IL and several nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Beulah Taylor and her brothers Ernest, Harley, and Raymond
