Phyllis T. Rakestraw's Obituary
Decatur-Phyllis T. Rakestraw, 82, of Decatur, passed on to eternity with the Lord Jesus Christ at 7:35 p.m. Monday, February 22, 2010 at her residence with her family by her side.
Services to celebrate Phyllis' life will be 11 a.m. Saturday, February 27, 2010 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Interment with 'Flight Home' Ceremony will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene. Phyllis was born January 2, 1928 in Augusta, Maine the daughter of Ernest and Juliet (Renard) Pomerleau. She was an administrative secretary with the City of Hampton, Virginia Fire Department. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, the Hampton, Virginia Moose Lodge, and VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Phyllis enjoyed gardening, sewing, and loved all animals. She married B.H. Rakestraw II. He preceded her in death October 1, 1983.
She leaves behind her daughters; Ann Luka and husband Larry of Decatur and Judith Mae Hamrick and husband Lewis of Oak Grove, Kentucky, son; David N. Stewart of Grovetown, Georgia, sister; Jeanette St. Pierre of Lewiston, Maine, eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
She was reunited in heaven with her parents, husband, and two brothers.
Phyllis was smiling and at peace right up to the end because of her never ending faith in Jesus.
