Prudence Peterson's Obituary
Decatur – Prudence Jo Peterson, 73, also known as Miss PJ by her family of friends and students at Robertson Charter School, passed at 3:33pm on Monday June 6, 2016 surrounded by her immediate family.
Prudence was born on April 21, 1943 to Paul and Helen Peterson. She was raised in Southern Indiana. She worked tirelessly as a teacher for nearly half a century to give children the best start in school so that education would be cherished. Her years of teaching were predominately performed on the west side of Chicago. She also taught in New Castle and Indianapolis, Indiana, the island of Guam, and finally in Decatur, IL.
Surviving are Prudence’s daughter, Candice Marie of Los Angeles, CA; sister, Geniel Grabowski and her husband James of Decatur; brother, Michael Peterson and his wife Cinda of St. Augustine, FL.
Prudence loved spending time with her family including her nieces and nephews and their children. She will be missed and remembered often, as she touched many people in her life.
A celebration of Prudence’s life will held at 11 AM Friday, June 10, 2016 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 10-11 AM Friday in the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to RETT Syndrome Research or Cancer Research.
