Racine Lyster's Obituary
Racine Kay (Lauber) Lyster, 74, of Decatur, passed away peacefully at 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, in her hometown following a long and courageous 4-5 year battle with cancer.
She was born at 9:26 a.m. on October 23, 1950, in Decatur, IL. Racine spent most of her life in the Harristown and Decatur area, though she had also lived in both Texas and Florida over the course of her lifetime.
A woman of unwavering faith, she was a member of the Baptist church and found strength in her beliefs. She was a hardworking and loyal employee of the Walmart in Decatur, where she worked from 1993 until her retirement after over 25 years of service.
Racine was known for her kindness, dedication, and warm presence. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Milton Grolla, in 1976; Wilbur and Katherine (Scott) Lauber; and brother, Richard Lauber.
Those surviving include: her loving children, Clint Grolla and wife Autumn, Peggy (Grolla) Scales and husband Jason, and Shaunna Bracelin; grandkids, Gaig Grolla, Mykal Grolla, Tia Chaudoin, and Taytum Chaudoin; and great-grandkids, LiLa Grissom, Raven Chaudoin, Lainie Chaudoin, and Madilyn Chaudoin.
Racine’s life was a testament to resilience, love, and quiet strength. Her memory will live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all those whose lives she touched.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home, where cremation arrangements have taken place. Racine will be laid to rest privately in Graceland Cemetery beside her parents and beloved husband.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 14, 2025, in the Harristown Village Community Center (185 Kembark Street, Decatur IL 62522). All family and friends are welcome to attend and share memories of Racine. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
