Ralph Maddox Carter Jr.'s Obituary
Ralph Maddox Carter, Jr., of Decatur, Illinois, passed away February 15, 2023 in his home.
Ralph was born in Decatur on August 20, 1941, the son of Ralph Maddox Carter, Sr., and Letha (Plummer) Carter. He served proudly in the United States Army. Upon his return, he began working as a machinist, a trade in which he excelled until his health forced him to the sidelines. Nevertheless, he was determined to continue his active life, finding joy in activities such as hunting, fishing, and Nascar. Ralph married Dora Sperry on September 14, 1963, in Decatur.
Ralph is survived by his wife Dora Carter of Decatur; children Steven (Tina) Carter of Rantoul and Brenda (Edward) Bosnyak of Decatur; stepson Richard Parcell of Green Bay, Wisconsin; siblings Robert (Patty) Carter of Mt. Zion, Carolyn Sargent of Kentucky, Harry (Judy) Carter of Florida, and Denise Carter of Missouri; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother John William Carter.
Visitation for Ralph will be held from 10am to 11am on Monday, February 20, at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home. Funeral service with military rites will take place at 11am, following the visitation. Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home will provide cremation services and burial in Graceland Cemetery at a later date.
