Ralph R. Dombroski's Obituary
Decatur-Ralph R. Dombroski, 93, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2016 in his home.
Ralph was born January 26, 1923 in Decatur, Illinois, the son of Otto and Mae (Watson) Dombroski. He was a graduate of the Decatur High School class of 1940. He attended Brown’s Business College and Millikin University. He proudly served his country in the 12th Army Air Force during World War II, serving three years in Africa and Italy. Ralph was employed for forty-two years with the A.E. Staley Manufacturing Company in various Industrial Sales and Marketing Management positions. Ralph was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, American Legion Castle Williams Post #105, and the Country Club of Decatur. He married Doris L. Painter October 20, 1946. They celebrated their sixty year anniversary before she preceded him in death November 3, 2006.
Ralph leaves behind his daughter Gayle Swanson and husband Cliff of Noblesville, Indiana, son Mark Dombroski and wife Janet of Mt. Zion, five grandchildren Brooke and Reid Swanson, Clayton, Weston, and Benjamin Dombroski, two great-grandchildren.
Ralph was preceded in death by his beloved wife Doris, parents, and brothers Otto Jr. and Glenn.
The family wishes to express a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Gregory Totel and staff, Pastor Russell Weise, Pastor Adam Ray, Jerry Pelz, and their church family at St. John’s Lutheran Church for their loving kindness and prayers.
Services to celebrate Ralph’s life will be 10 AM Saturday, February 20, 2016 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2727 N Union St, Decatur, IL 62526, with Pastor Russell J. Weise officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Friday, February 19, 2016 at the Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Burial with military honors conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials in Ralph’s honor are suggested to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
