Ray Dean Marshall's Obituary
Decatur-Ray Dean Marshall, 69, of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, January 04, 2012 in Decatur Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.
Services to celebrate Ray's life will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services. Interment with 'Flight Home' Ceremony will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Life Foursquare Church.
Ray was born December 12, 1942, in Arthur, Illinois the son of Fred and Viola (Coulter) Marshall and was raised by his mother and devoted stepfather Maurice Carter. He proudly served his country in the USAF. He was a millwright and machinist having worked at A.E. Staley, Micar Co., and Mueller Co. He attended Life Foursquare Church. He was a member of the Decatur Blunderbirds RC Flying Club and the Decatur Macon County Senior Center. He enjoyed building and flying remote control airplanes. Ray was a great handyman that was always willing to help others. He married June Holbert January 22, 1966.
He leaves behind June his wife of nearly forty-six years, sons Gregg and wife Christine, Steven and wife Christina, and Brad and wife Lavonne all of Decatur, stepmother Betty Carter of Decatur, twelve grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
He was reunited in Heaven with his parents and brother Rex Marshall.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses and staff at DMH ICU for all of their loving care.
