Raymond Brais' Obituary
Decatur-Raymond Vincent Brais, 82, of Decatur, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2017, in Decatur Memorial Hospital, with his family by his side.
Raymond was born May 15, 1934, in Bourbonnais, Illinois the son of Yvon and Jeanette (Benoit) Brais. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. Raymond married Patricia Trunk January 24, 1959, in Kankakee. Raymond retired from ADM in 1996 with twenty years of service. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Raymond loved working in the yard and planting flowers.
Raymond leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Patricia; four children, Kirk (Jane) Brais of Bourbonnais, Scott (Erin) Brais of New Lenox, Dawn (Wally) Thayer of Joliet and Kim (Bruce) Jones of Bethany; six grandchildren, Derek (Candice) Brais, Jason (Brittany) Pfeffer, Christina (Dave) Sosnowski, Lindsay (Mike) Thorgesen, Todd Brais and Colton Sroka; four great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Addison, Sydney and Olivia; and three sisters, Theresa Gee of Manteno, Sister Yvonne Brais of Champaign and Mary Ann (Phil) Hughes of Cabery; two sisters-in-law, Mary Brais of Bourbonnais and Ruth (late John) St. Germaine of Colorado.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Bernard (late Nell), Robert and Donald (late Joan) Brais; and one sister, Doris Carrigan.
Services to celebrate Raymond’s life will be 12:00 PM Saturday, April 29, 2017, in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday before the service at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow in Graceland Cemetery. The family requests casual attire.
