Raymond M. Schmoldt's Obituary
Decatur – Raymond W. Schmoldt, 84, of Decatur, passed away at 4:15 p.m. Saturday, December 5, 2009 at Decatur Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Services to celebrate Raymond’s life will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home with Pastor Russell Weise officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Interment with Military Honors conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard will be at Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to St. John’s Lutheran Church building fund or the Northeast Community Fund. Raymond was born December 7, 1924 in Beemer, Nebraska, the son of Herman and Elma (Stauffer) Schmoldt. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Raymond was a farmer for most of his life. He married Elaine R. Abendroth on September 7, 1946 in West Point, Nebraska. She preceded him in death on January 15, 2009.
He leaves behind one daughter: Barbara (Tom) Eichenauer of Rialto, California, two sons: Richard (Colleen) Schmoldt of Decatur, and Larry (Nancy) Schmoldt of Mesa, Arizona, grandchildren: Amanda, Aaron, Anthony (Holly), Kimberlee, Kristina Schmoldt, Rachael Montillo, and Brad Eichenauer, great-grandchildren: Jordon Rentfro, Kianna Montillo, and Camden Schmoldt, sisters: Nora Peatrowsky of Annandale, Minnesota and Edna Peatrowsky of Fremont, Nebraska, many nieces and nephews, and many great friends from his life long home in Nebraska, especially Larry and Mary Gentrup.
He was reunited in heaven with his beloved wife Elaine, parents, grandson Kevin Schmoldt, great-granddaughter Riley Jo Schmoldt, brothers: Walter and Harry Schmoldt, and sister: Evelyn Fields.
