Captain Ray WyattThe USS BERGALL SSN 667 crew who served under the command of Captain Ray Wyatt all know the outstanding leadership of Captain Wyatt. Captain Wyatt was a gifted man because of how he was able to blend his high intelligence, wisdom, humor, positive attitude, and humility in each and every day of his life. I attended the Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Captain Ray Wyatt along with my wife Helen in Decatur, IL. Helen had the pleasure of meeting Ray and his lovely wife Karen at the 2009 and 2010USS Bergall Reunions. When hearing the news of Captain WyattÃ?Â¢Ã¢â??Â¬Ã¢â??Â¢s death I knew I had to attend his Memorial Service. Captain Wyatt gave me and so many men on the USS Bergall life skills we carry within us every day of our lives. Captain Wyatt pointed me in the right direction and I would base my work ethic and management skills on what I learned from Captain Wyatt as he commanded the USS Bergall. I am trying to imagine the countless men Captain Wyatt pointed in the right direction giving them a lifelong gift. How wonderful it would be if the crew of the USS Bergall could have experienced the outpouring of genuine love Helen and I felt at RayÃ?Â¢Ã¢â??Â¬Ã¢â??Â¢s Memorial Service. Helen and I came to express our deepest sympathy to the Wyatt family and we were welcomed as if we were family. Of course we both wish we could have met RayÃ?Â¢Ã¢â??Â¬Ã¢â??Â¢s family under better circumstances. RayÃ?Â¢Ã¢â??Â¬Ã¢â??Â¢s beautiful wife Karen, his children Steve and Mari, grandchildren, RayÃ?Â¢Ã¢â??Â¬Ã¢â??Â¢s brothers, nieces and nephews and extended family and friends showed us how Ray lives on in the Wyatt family. The Celebration of Life Memorial Service, the Military Honors, the Flag presentation, and The Flight Home are a memory I will cherish. Steve and family,Please know that our heartfelt thoughts and deep prayers have been with you and your family on this long difficult journey. I feel like I have known your parents and Mari better than I do through all the years of photos and friendship that we have shared with you. In truth, I believe I met them once back when we first knew you and Donna. Your folks and Mari and David came to our apartment in Kingston and enjoyed a special desset that Joe made. I know how hard this is for you all, and I know it is hard to imagine that time will heal your broken hearts. But, you have wonderful memories and the legacy of an amazing man to have with you always. Celebrate his life in the stars and night sky and all the things that he loved. Those are the things that have helped me with the loss of my Mom almost 26 years ago. I still feel her with me and she inspires through a bird's song, a gentle summer breeze or a NY blizzard. I am so sorry to hear of Rays passing. I worked directly for and with Ray for many years at CPS and learned a lot from him about doing what was right while having a lot of fun in spite of the difficult times associated with the startup of CPS. If one word could describe how he managed it would be "Just". He worked very hard making decisions that were fair and just for all involved as well as proportionate for the circumstances.

We are very sorry to learn about Captain Wyatt's passing. While our time on board with him was short, he managed to have a very profound affect on all of us. A sincere man, it was natural for him to care about his crew. He was quietly confident with everything on the line. Bill and I, along with Peter, Kate, Josh and Paige, are deeply saddened by Ray's death. He was a wonderful, generous person who will be greatly missed by many. For us, he was a much appreciated friend and neighbor for many years, and we have fond memories of times spent together. We were all grateful to have had a chance to visit with him last Christmas when he came over to see Whit. We send our love and condolences to Karen and all the rest of his fine family. He fought to the end; may he rest in peace.

Sorry to hear of Ray's passing. My condolences to Karen and the family. Ray and I were friends and colleagues during the construction, startup, and operation of Clinton Power Station. I miss the many good times we shared during those years. I will miss him.

Dear Wyatt family,We are so sorry for your loss. Uncle Ray was always one of my favorite uncles because of his smile and happiness (and he took us water skiing on the lake!)
