Raymond Jean Young's Obituary
Raymond Jean Young, 95, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away February 1, 2024, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Jean was born in Martin City, Missouri, on May 19, 1928, the son of William Burr and Marion Irene (Adams) Young. He served honorably in the U.S. Army and later worked as a data processing manager for Firestone. He married Martha Ann Vaught on March 14, 1953, in Grandview, Missouri. Jean was a kind and patient man. He was a dedicated husband and wonderful father. He loved spending time boating and skiing with his family at Table Rock Lake. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, and working on the computer. He was a long-time member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Jean is survived by his children Nancy (Keith) Askins of Decatur, Illinois, and Mark Young of Fishers, Indiana; sister Mary Alice (Forrest) Clay of Worland, Wyoming; grandchildren Matt, Lindsey, Kelly, Sarah, and Brandon; and great-grandchildren Eleanor, Lilian, and Audrey. He was preceded in death by his wife and two children, Paul Young and Carol Ann Wilhite.
Services for Jean will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 12:30pm and will be followed by a funeral service at 1pm. Burial with military rites will take place in Boiling Springs Cemetery after the service. Memorials may be directed to the Macon County Honor Guard.
