Rebekah Hazel Stanley's Obituary
Rebekah Hazel Stanley (née Parsley)
May 4, 1983 – December 6, 2025
Rebekah Hazel Stanley, 42, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2025. She was born on May 4, 1983, in Hammond, Illinois. Though her journey took her through Decatur and most recently Peoria, Illinois, her heart belonged wherever her chosen family was.
Rebekah believed deeply that family is not always defined by blood, but by loyalty, love, and showing up when it matters. Her chosen family—so many friends who became home—meant everything to her. Among them were Dana May, Ashleigh Allen, Logan Cole, and countless others who were loved fiercely and completely by her.
She is survived by her father James Parsley, who baptized her in the Church of Christ in 1997; her mother, Paula Crowe (remarried); her sister, Jessica Sudduth, and her husband, Jeff Sudduth, of Scottville, Illinois, along with their two sons; her brother, Justus Parsley, and his wife, Haylee Parsley, of Palmyra, Illinois, along with their son and daughter; and many nieces and nephews, both by blood and through the family she chose. She is also survived by her cousin, Diana Pratt, with whom she shared a close and meaningful bond.
Stubborn in the most unforgettable way, Rebekah was also the most selfless person many of us will ever know. She gave her time, her voice, and her heart to others without hesitation. She volunteered endlessly and was a passionate advocate for United States veterans. Veterans Day was her favorite holiday—one that truly lit her up, just like the causes she believed in. Her love and respect for veterans was not just spoken, it was lived.
Rebekah had a smile that could change the atmosphere of a room and eyes that carried warmth, truth, and understanding. She had a way of making people feel seen, valued, and safe—whether they had known her for a lifetime or just met her.
Rebekah will be deeply missed, fiercely loved, and forever remembered for her giving heart, unshakeable loyalty, and the light she brought into this world.
A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Rebekah’s honor to a veteran's organization of the donor’s choice or to assist with final expenses.
