Ricardo A. Mantay's Obituary
Ricardo A. Mantay Sr – Master Carpenter, passed away surrounded by loving family on July 26, 2016.
Born February 2, 1942 in Argentina, Ricardo grew to be a joyful prankster who always wore a smile and had good story to tell.
As master carpenter, Ricardo was well regarded in the community for his creativeness and fine wood working skills. He contributed to the construction of many of Decatur’s finest homes and took great joy in bringing homeowners dreams into reality.
More than anything else, Ricardo loved his family. Together with his caring former wife and lifelong friend he raised three children who will miss his kindness, gentleness, and humor in their life very much. A grandfather of six, his grandchildren will miss his support at recitals, soccer matches, and DAWGS football games.
Ricardo is reunited with his father Augusto, mother Lidija and sisters Martha and Elena who preceded him in death. Ricardo will live on through the work he leaves behind and the memories of his cherished friends and surviving family; sister Maria Blowers, brother Manfred, lifelong loving friend Susan Mantay, daughter Lillian Mantay and Steve Baldwin, son Ricardo Mantay Jr. and wife Rachael, daughter Michele Logue-Mantay and husband Josh, and grandchildren Ben, Colton, Lucas, Seth, Madison, and Mya. We love you papa.
